Peach-Wood Grove is a small community of some dozen households and seven families (some of the families have split to form more than one household.) The community’s main trade is the fruits of its orchards though the hamlet grows more than just fruit trees. The Wilburg family is the biggest landholder but the Towers, who run the drying and shipping for the community, are the richest by a hair. The hamlet also has a cooper (Matthew Upland), a skilled fine woodworker (Elizabeth Tower), a blacksmith (Torm Ironhelm) and a small brewery and distillery ran by Helga Ironhelm. The Ironhelms and the halflings Dal and Mellessalla Fairways and their two kids are the only non-humans in the community and the Fairways moved in only five years back.
The militia is commanded by the retired smith, Thorg Ironhelm. In the past, the leading families would compete to equip and lead the militia. Out of the 13 people that are in the militia now six are dwarves equipped with warhammers, heavy shields, plate armor, and really heavy crossbows. The other seven are lead by Frank Wilburg or John Tower. The Wilburg detachment has four men (only two are Wilburgs) equipped with halberds, slings and leather armor and the Tower detachment has three men (only John Tower is a Tower) equipped with glaives, crossbows and chainmail armor. If ether the Towers or the Wilburgs could get the other family to vote for them then the hamlet would have a new militia commander. More of the families though still like having Thorg Ironhelm run the militia because the dwarf is seen as fair and proficient.
